Nestled among the trees between Lynchburg and Roanoke, Poplar Forest was Thomas Jefferson’s idea of his personal pursuit of happiness. Restored and opened to the public some 20 years ago, the retreat offers further insight into Charlottesville’s patron. In an Archaeology Open House today, archaeologists share their latest discoveries with a guided visit of the Poplar Forest archaeology lab.
