Astronomy Festival

The National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO), headquartered in Charlottesville, invites families, friends, students, teachers, astronomy enthusiasts, and the general public to its annual Astronomy Festival and Open House. Learn about the universe and how the NRAO's telescopes, the largest in the world, are revealing its secrets. There will be science and technology presentations, demonstrations, exhibits, and hands-on activities including water rockets, comet making, looking at sun spots with telescopes, eating liquid nitrogen ice cream, and more. In the evening, astronaut John Grunsfeld gives a public lecture at 7pm at UVa's Gilmer Hall. 520 Edgemont Road. 244-6808.
