Assistive Technology to Enhance Literacy for the Special Education Student
Are there instructional areas or tasks within the literacy curriculum that are difficult for your child? Are you confused about assistive technology considerations and your child's IEP? PREP/Parent Resource Center hosts an Assistive Technology fair, where students and parents can learn about (and try out) word prediction software, authoring and text to speech programs, IEP considerations, and AT issues related to statewide assessments. Carol Weigle, TTAC/JMU Coordinator with a specialty in Assistive Technology and Communication, addresses AT issues related to statewide assessments and IEP considerations. There will be time for Q&A. Registration required and space is limited. For more information and to register: sblech@k12albemarle.org or (434) 975-9400 ext. 68032. Ivy Creek School Gym, 227 Lambs Lane.
