UVA Art Museum invites entries for "Writer's Eye 2010"

The University of Virginia Art Museum invites children and adults to enter its annual "Writer's Eye" competition, which this year will include works from the exhibitions, "Man Ray, African Art, and the Modernist Lens" and "African Art: Beyond the Modernist Lens," as well as pieces in the permanent collection. Categories include poetry and prose, and age groups are divided into grades three to five, six to eight, nine to 12, and university student/adult. Entrants will write original poetry or prose inspired by one of the works selected for the competition. Guided tours for school classes and community groups are available, and self-guided tours can be taken during regular museum hours.
