First Night Virginia

First Night Virginia transforms the Charlottesville Historic Downtown Mall into a New Year's Eve extravaganza with endless entertainment of all kinds for revelers of all ages. Kids have their own special place in the party with  Kids' Fest 2012 starting at 1pm at the Omni and featuring face painting, jugglers, magicians, inflatables, and a Creation Station, and finishing off with the Kids’ Processional on the Downtown Mall. Kids over ten can get into Teen Extreme at Key Recreation Center where there is an ltimate Adrenaline Rush obstacle course, Mechanical Bull, Big Glove Boxing Ring, and the 22' Roaring River Slide. And, in celebration of Charlottesville's 250th anniversary, the Historical Society hosts a historical treasure hunt.

Entertainment takes place at multiple venues around the downtown area. Though most performances are indoors, but don't miss the midnight ball drop at the Pavilion.
