Throngs turned out for a Thursday, May 2, preview of Design House 2013. The two-week charity event showcases local designers while raising money for Shelter for Help in Emergency, which provides assistance and housing for victims of domestic violence. This year's home, located in Farmington and owned by Melissa and Richard Spurzem, features several living room and den areas, each with their own ambience, as well as a dining room, a nursery, several bedrooms and a guest cottage. Inspiration abounds thanks to local designers, and the $20 entry goes to a worthy cause. Design House is open May 4-19, 10am-4pm (closed Tuesdays). Parking is available at Westover Farm on Old Garth Road, and a free shuttle transports visitors to the home.
