Jennifer Stuart: She's the Paramount Idol winner

On the same night that semi-shaven fellow with similar first and last names won the eleventh season of American Idol, a Central Virginian was named the winner of the Paramount Idol, a spiffy little Charlottesville contest.

She is Jennifer Stuart, and she sings in a Nellysford-based band called The Design.

At the Paramount on May 23, after singing "At Last," the song made famous by the late Etta James, Stuart was the last person standing among 10 finalists. They had been chosen a week earlier from over 200 singers who auditioned at the Paramount Theater.

As the winner, chosen by celebrity judges and audience texts, Stuart gets $1,000 as well as a professionally recorded demo session at The Sound recording studio and a career consultation session with Red Light Management.

"I'm gonna need that," Stuart told the Paramount audience.

What a thrill to watch her sing and move to the music. After catching many of the TV talent on American Idol, I prefer Jennifer, and can't wait to see her perform again. Tara Wheeler did a super job, and it was a terrific group of finalists. Thanks Paramount folks for a fun evening.

Charlottesville we got talent !

JennyStu, I love you! Absolutely amazing woman!
Thanks to Paramount for hosting such an awesome festival and congratulations to the other finalists too. Keep it up!
