2 dead: Same gun used in Virginia Tech deaths
Update December 9: Police are saying the same handgun that killed a university police officer also was used on the second man found in a parking lot. The second person is believed to be the shooter and the weapon was found near his body.
Officer Deriek Crouse, 39, is the father of five.
A police officer making a routine traffic stop at Virginia Tech was shot and killed around noon today.
Witnesses reported the suspect fled on foot. At another parking lot called the Cage, a second person was found dead.
The university was under lockdown until around 4:30pm, according to the Collegiate Times. The suspect is described as a white male in gray sweatpants, gray hat with a neon green brim, a maroon hoodie and a backpack, WINA reports.
in 2007, 32 people were killed at the Blacksburg campus in what ranks as the deadliest shooting massacre in U.S. history.
